Some thoughts fr e ST..

Was reading e ST (finally!!!) n am happy i did actually. hehe. so there were these 3 articles abt Sg's death penalty sentencing of Mr Nyugen. well i still haf no stand on whether capital punishment is relevant or shld b abolished, but i still believe tt Mr Nyugen has chosen his path ever since accepting e mammoth task of trafficking drugs via Sg. so there. Mr John Fletcher, an Australian, kinda reflects my views too (article here). basically, he says tt politicians (mainly in Australia) haf chosen to take up tis debate bcoz it strikes with e common ppl.. tt another country is hostile-ly hanging "one of us" n tt's BAD. aniwaez, EVERYONE noes tt there's NO way Sg will let tis guy off so these r all NOISE. to get themselves heard. it is my believe tt Mr Nguyen's family bear no hope tt their man will b released, so tok abt "giving the family hope" is juz a disguise to get across their agenda, be it to remove capital punishment (partially or totally) or to gain political pts or wad. aniwae, den there's tis other article tt is totally crap to me (if somebody understand, pls tell me k? cos i relli duno e pt..). E title is totally crap in e first place (title is constructed by ST no?).. "Every Citizen of Australia Feels Offended". Mr Peter Lowe poses 3 qns he feels we shld tink abt n he got ME tinking tt he's juz pretty patriotic. lolz.. ok i dun care la i'll juz quote him direct k..

Question 1: Who suffers after Dec 2 until the day that they die?
Answer: His mother, other members of his family and his friends, not the young man himself.

how true! and who is e cause of all this suffrage tt e family members will go thru? e Sg govt law tt has been in place since duno when? Pls think again, Mr Lowe.

Question 2: Who else is seriously offended by Singapore's actions?
Answer: Every citizen of Australia.

how true! but y "who else"? i tot Mr Lowe would b providing bigger name ppl like Mr Chee Soon Juan. Still, it is interesting for me to note tt in Mr Fletcher's article tis quote "Most Australians with whom I have discussed the Nguyen case are more moderate in their views. They believe that sovereign states have the right to make their own laws. They do not support calls for economic sanctions against Singapore." of cos, tis could mean they r still offended. =shrugz=

Question 3: How do you think Singapore and its culture are regarded by the civilised world?
Answer: I will let you ponder that one yourself.

tis one is ultimate! lolz. he has clearly misplaced (or purposely interlinked) a law with Sg n its culture. i tink he's trying to stir unpleasant feelings within e population tt our culture sux n e civilised world feels so. how'd u define a "civilised world"? Would it b one where shootings occur every other day for no logical reason? (oops.. lidat also can "shoot" another country sia..) Mr Lowe ah Mr Lowe.. (for tt matter.. ST ah ST..) E SAF will tell u to "wake up ur blardy idea".

Oh! i did mention Mr Chee rite? he's back in action! in e ST main pg 16, he's calling for a global protest! (hey, u r supposed to go "wow") Ok i dun tink i'll b charged for tis, but it seems like somebody has lost credibility to ME (to ME k. ME. others may tink there IS credibility). probably i'm politically apathetic like e ST tries to get us to tink e youths are (urm ok i got no links n i'm lazy to link to articles tt says tt), but i tink u wan a politician who would protect a nation's sovereignty by at least standing by a law tt's in place? i duno. i wun wanna noe wad happens when some guy is elected n starts to change all e laws which e Int'l Community feels are wrong. i dun tink free trade works lidat. so aniwae, while PM Mr John Howard acknowledges tt there's no way Sg is gonna turn back on its decision, Mr Chee is calling on Australia to lead a global protest agst HIS own country. WOW. see how he scores political pts in e int'l scene but not locally? i tink he'd fare better addressing e local issues of racial n religious harmony, economic growth n equality n e water issue. Jia you Mr Chee.

hmm some econs tots.. NUS is goin to spend $150m on expanding e medical campus.. in line with Sg's aim of becoming e biomedical hub in e region. i'm juz wondering.. so is tis expenditure funded by NUS funds? or by Sg govt? recently, Sg is supposed to b seeing one of e better economic growth yrs. buden (could b cos General Elections coming..) there is goin to b increased govt spending on like Aljunied (edited: Nov 24 1143am: $160m) and some other place i forgot.. So according to Keynesian theory,

PAE (planned aggregate expenditure) = C + I + G + (X-M)
C - Consumption
I - Investment
G - Govt expenditure
X-M - exports minus imports, ie net exports

so if we r seeing gd econ growth n it's projected to get better (MM Lee say one.. not i say one ok..), den isn't increasing e level of G goin to push our PAE (aka output aka NI akin to GDP) to a higher level? -ponders- i haf tis feeling tt sth is juz wrong somewhere (either in my tinkin or wat is happening) n tt tis incr in spending may cause bad things to happen. apparently, Sg doesn't function on fiscal spending but more so on monetary policies.. so e rise in inter-bank rates isn't supposed to b a gd thing bahz. i duno. i tink somewhere i'm misled. i shld go n write out all e links it could help my econs paper on Fri also. lolz. k nvm for those who duno wat i've been rambling on. aniwae, i tink they shld make Econs module COMPULSORY for CS ppl. HAHA. kill me!! somebody kill me. :D OH!!! i juz realised sth!! my txtbk is written by *gasp* e guy who's goin to take over Alan Greenspan!!! yah! it's written by Ben Bernanke! (and for tt matter, i tink it SUX. but mabe e guy is forced to simplify matters.. wats more he has an accomplice Robert Frank. be glad they r not goin to twitch Fed policies TOGETHER.)

i'm goin crazy. my eyebags r darkening. n i'm longing to play more. n i'm supposed to b studyin but waking up at 1215pm n blogging isn't helping my cause. HAHA. i wanna meet up w ppl!! was chatting with Jingru (my roomie.. guy.. 劲儒 ok) abt close frens n we both couldn't name more than like.. 3? ya. n i realised one big diff b/w me n most guys (incl him), which i nv tot of much.. i realised (tis came abt cos i was tokkin w Shisi) tt it's harder for me to haf a close guy fren than a close gal fren (gal fren is NOT = GF... no mathematical or economic proof req'd). so if u tink u r a guy n u r potentially somebody who can click with me, pls come find me. cos i tink i'll treasure u quite a lot. -ponders-

ok i better go down to study le. stayin in rm is detrimental to studying, ie
rm + books = lie on bed + msn + songs + food
tis eqn holds with no assumptions req'd..
