Reflecting on 2005
so wad did 2005 haf for me?
i struggled to organise monthly meet ups with my 13th Wso course.. with several of it ending up as ktv sessions at party world on wkend nites due to everybody's bz work schedule. a few gd dinners as well.. and no pics to show. carrying forward my first cat (cat - officiation of duty), i got my 2 other cats b4 leaving for studies. my dear coursemate by e name of Baofen got her 2 others too, with e diff being she alr has a 2nd upper honours. Her being 6 yrs my elder din prevent her from keepin by me, for lunch n for outings. e ease with which i can chat with her, being able to tell her much stuff n confiding n such, n her not minding me asking her abt much stuff.. i realli tink is pretty rare. thanx baofen, for all e knowledge n encouragement tt u haf so selflessly imparted to me. from basketball tactics to work-related stuff.. for sharing ur woes n mine. and though it is tt we haf only known each other for a mere 2 yrs now n tt i'm guilty for not catchin up with u more often n not chatting on msn with u more often, i'll try to do so more (haha.. i tink YOU'LL complain of my bugging u eh? lolz. den again, YOU dun read my blog so haha). and though ur twenty-sth birthday is coming again (bwahaha.. i'm evil), i hope it's relieving for u to noe tt i'll b having my twenty-sth bdae too~ =P
e next big thing would b my fren's mum's health.. let's call tis fren D. D's mum's health deteriorated n it was den diagnosed tt she had diabetes. it was a big thing for D's family. and as they all adapted to new meal conditions n regular doctoral visits, D prepared to go overseas for studies. it was kinda tough for D, torn b/w staying on in S'pore to take care n help monitor D's mum's health vs an overseas education n exposure. But overseas D went nonetheless, with several slight quarrels happening in e period b4 e departure. and being a close family fren, my belief is tt D will nv regret tis experience given, n when D comes back, will prob b in a different league even from me. blessings, i haf for D, and D's mum n family. and i'm guilty of not goin to visit D's mum n family more often. laziness is a v v bad trait. i hope tt as years pass n if i actually do mature, i can be able to overcome tis trait n exert more control on my life n e things i wan to do.
next will haf to b e 2 NTU orientation camps tt i went to. i dislike camps. realli. y? i dislike being soaked in mud, ketchup, soy sauce n e like. i dun see e pt. i realli dun. i still dun. nonetheless, i dun regret goin for e CS FOC nor e hall 2 camp Hoseii. even though i only went for CS camp for 2 pathetic days, e frens i made there has lasted me e last semester, with no end in sight. i'm grateful, totally. for one, i'm pretty thankful tt even though i were there for 2 days only (with e impression of me being a skinny guy playing cards with e guys), they actually remem my name when sch started. =D n i made frens quite easily with Chris, who came on e 3rd day when i had ceased to exist. how cool can it get?
-sea sports day, CS FOC 2005-i lasted all of hall camp (absent on 1st nite though cos farewell dinner for Ruihang) n made frens of cos. although some of these frens haf died down somehow, i guess it's only a matter of meeting up more n less in hall. suppers n nite jogs to come in e new sem!
-Kyojin, best in Jurong, Clementi, n some say Ubin-
(e everlasting effect of PCK Pte Ltd)
e next big thing happened 2 wks into sch.. i became single n available again. i guess it lasted long.. 3 yrs. we rarely quarreled n kinda knew how each other worked. and as she grew to noe, increasingly, wad she wanted, i began to realise tt perhaps, she deserved better. i stand by my stand.. tt if ever u need someone to tok with, to solve ur chemistry qns using illogical logic n A level knowledge, to push u on to work hard, to haf a gd chat with ur sis n her bf, or simply to b there for support, u haf a fren in me who will do juz tt. N i sincerely hope ur stinct in e US with NOC will open ur eyes to e world of business n e world, which is wad u set off with in mind.
perhaps more imptly, i'd like to say tt u haf been one of e best gfs in e world tt someone could ever wish for. e freedom u gave to me, ur forthrightness, ur sense of righteousness n cuteness. (oh n Gerald misses ur brownies.. LOL.. of cos i do too :D) Take care! n frens always.
-Kaiting, me n some of e 13 wsos @ Sentosa-
projs bogged me down for e sch semester.. 2 of them in particular. if anyone remems, i was much into my cs111 proj. we worked hard for it, e various Sunday meet ups, e Wed sessions which often included gossip n uncontrollable laughter. it was prob my first big exposure to a proper proj. and i'm glad it ended up with having befriended a great person Sam Kangli n with e proj getting an A grade. e other being cs108, which was particularly touchy bcoz we knew one another.. n not being software savvy also took it toll on us, with everybody experimenting during e proj. Trying to manage e frustrations n e group dynamics was e highlight n i hope to say tt i came out of e proj, a more composed person. And thru it, i saw how e CS community was ever so willing to help one another. and i feel so thankful. all my 21 yrs, i've found myself mixing in company who were always helpful n giving, despite being in places where talk has it tt ppl kill one another in competition (unless i've been naive, not realising tt underground competition is present).
-cs108 proj grp, 3 attractive n chirpy n strong-minded ladies, with me obviously missing-
exams! first ever exams in NTU. big thing. nth much to say, except tt i shall study more consistently n more conscientioustly tis coming sem. i'm happy with my grades, although many many ppl haf better grades than me. i tink Chrongmeng will b becoming my mugger buddy soon. hehe. prob with Ailing also.. eh? -grin-
had 2 cakes for my bdae, one at 12mn whilst we studied our eyes out at CS benches. a serene cosy 21st bdae celeb for e limelight-shy guy is v appropriate. n i say thanx once again.
-studyin hard.. clockwise: Chrongmeng, Qiaoqing, Ailing n me-
(isit getting too long? haha. i've begun treating tis blog as more of sth for MYSELF, not for U. so pls go ahead n close e window if u've had enuf.)
ISG n IHG. nth much for ISG.. finally played bball with Chrongmeng (although we were soundly thrashed 81-16 by e NBS team), n played vball with Weiyang. quite cool realli, as i attempted to come up with tactics which we obviously din manage to stick to.. all non-players so kinda hard n i dun blame anyone. i enjoyed myself even though we lost. we were all non-players realli. lookin back, i tink i took on e leading role unconsciously. they say sports bring out e person. i duno. situational i guess. IHG left me with much thoughts. for one, nth is certain. i tink i've said much in my previous posts on Contract Bridge n Hockey.. shan't rant on. but i take with me e experience.
-e rain tt fell for much of e aftnn till nite, tears for us perhaps-
one last thing bah.. as i rushed out to meet Teresa for dinner on 31st, i was msg-ing a fren, who agreed tt i was a bit overly frenly but tt it's gd tt i'm keeping my options open. i tink, realli, tt i'm not open at all. i admit tt it prob isn't e wisest thing to do to limit urself by saying "i dun wanna get into another r/ship cos it'd prob mean i'm juz lookin for a replacement". u'll prob say tt "cmon lah, if u can say tt line out, it means u r sober n not replacing". i disagree. saying is one thing, sometimes u unconsciously execute e things u say u dun wanna do, not realising it til much later. i'm happy, cos i tink i found somebody whom i can chat relentlessly with. i dun run out of topics; e other person doesn't either. it's a nice feeling. although e person doesn't read tis blog, i still say my thanx. n i sincerely hope i will not end up like certain ppl in e stories i've heard from tis fren. i would b most sad to end up like anyone of them. =)
